Mary Kom will get  Padma Vibhushan Award, India’s second-highest civilian award. PV Sindhu’s name has been suggested for Padma Bhushan Award. The Sports Ministry has also named seven other female athletes for the Padma awards.
The Sports Ministry has recommended the name of wrestler Vinesh Phogat, India’s T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, ace TT player Manika Batra, Hockey captain Rani Rampal, shooter Suma Shirur and mountaineer twin sisters, Tashi and Nungshi Malik for Padma Shri award.
Also the names of the women sportspersons, the sports ministry has recommended the names of archer Tarundeep Rai and hockey Olympian MP Ganesh for the Padma Shri award.
Mary Kom first female sportsperson to be recommended for Padma Vibhushan.
Only three sportspersons have received the Padma Vibhushan award till now and they include Vishwanathan Anand (2007), Sir Edmund Hillary (2008) and former Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar.
