WASHINGTON DC-
A bipartisan group of 44 influential lawmakers has urged the Trump administration to reinstate India's designation as a beneficiary developing nation under the key GSP (Generalised System of Preferences) trade programme as part of a potential trade deal between the two countries.
The Trump administration ended India's designation as a beneficiary developing nation under its key Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) in June 2019.
Despite losing preferential treatment, the import of India’s GSP-eligible products into the US increased by over 40 percent in June 2019, in comparison to last year.
